Finishing Pilot Study

October 19-23
It was week 5 at Drexel, meaning lots of midterms. So things were a little slower, but we still got to finish up the Pilot Study! The third and final student participated. All three participants gave us the same results - they thought that everything was easy except for the question on probability and the question on simplifying expressions with square roots and exponents.
This made our decision for the full study very easy. The Full Study will contain problems on probability as well as very complex expression simplification. I will soon start developing the problem sets for the Full Study.
We also gained some other insight from the Pilot Study. It is best to use questions that do not require students to type in complicated math problems. There were specific directions on how to type in mathematical answers, but they apparently made things confusing.
